Darren Mapes - Dorothy
Darren Mapes originates from Warwick in QLD, and is a graduate of UNE-NR Lismore (now Southern Cross University).
Darren has over 20yrs experience as an actor, singer, musician, and vocal coach. Most recently he was co-writer and musical director for Deb Krizak's, "Cabbaret" the untold ABBA story. He stars in and has co- written, The Carpenters From Kempsey, one of Australiaʼs leading touring and corporate acts, which has toured extensively throughout Australia and Asia. He has been an accompanist for the likes of David Campbell, Noel Ferrier, Maggie Dense, Mary Kiani and Belinda Chapple. He has appeared in the feature film Neophytes & Neon Lights, and the ABC Tele-movie by Louis Nowra, The Wee Small Hours. His Musical and cabaret credits include Dutch Courage, Working, Damn Yankees, The Magic Faraway Tree, Laughing Matters, Threeʼs Company, and Nowadays.
Darren has a passion for Piano Bar Entertaining and has had residencies at the Piano Room and the Polo Lounge. He is also one of Australia's leading vocal coaches and currently heads the Singing/Musical Theatre department at Brent Street Studios.
Julia Dray - Blanche
Julia graduated from WAAPA in 2013, where she was the recipient of the Hal Leonard Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre.
Training in dance from the age of four, Julia discovered a love of singing as the lead singer for her high school Jazz Combo. After graduating from Sydney Girls High in 2005, she undertook five years of study in Media, Film Studies and Animation at the University of New South Wales.
During her three years at WAAPA, she performed the roles of The Abbess in The Comedy of Errors, Asaka (Mother of The Earth) in Once On This Island and the larger-than-life assassin – Sara Jane Moore in Assassins.
In 2014 Julia toured as the singer for the Irish dance spectacular, Celtic Illusions. She went on to perform in the educational musical Worlds Apart for Book Week 2014, touring Sydney and Perth. She also made her small screen debut on Deadly Women for Beyond Productions (though her parents will tell you she made her screen debut as a jaundiced newborn baby called Simon, in the 7th season of A Country Practice...fun fact).
Most recently, Julia was a dancer for Ali McGregor's Jazzamatazz! at Sydney Festival 2015 and performed the role of Bad Idea Bear (u/s Kate/Lucy) in the Enmore Theatre season of Avenue Q.
She is a proud founding member of the independent theatre company, Edgeware Forum. And in her spare time, she is a freelance web designer.
Julia thanks her parents for their support and inspiration to pursue a career in the arts.
Meredith O'Reilly - Rose
Meredith has been an entertainer for over 30 years. Theatrical highlights include Starkers (playing stripper Glenda, Director Lex Marinos), Les Miserables ( swing, Dir. Gale Edwards), Hello Dolly! (u/ study Ernastina Money, Dir. Christopher Renshaw), Chess (u/study Florence, Dir. Colin McColl), New Rocky Horror Show (Magenta/Usherette alternate, Dir. Nigel Triffitt), Gypsy ( Tessie Tura, Dir. Nancye Hayes), How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying ( Smitty, Dir. Kris Stewart), The Producers ( Hold Me-Touch Me, nominated for both Green Room & Helpmann awards, Dir. Susan Stroman), Karaoke the Musical ( Tammy, Dir. Guy Noble), Rain (P.M. Julia Gillard, Dir. Jonathan Mill/Teresa Borg), Love Never Dies (understudy Madame Giry, Dir. Simon Phillips) and Grandma in The Addams Family( Dir.Jerry Zaks).
Recently Meredith was in 3 new Australian musical projects: Life Force( Dir. Lisa Freshwater), Laura ( Dir. Arne Neeme) and King Of The Air playing Charles Kingsford Smith's mother ( Dir. Tyran Parke). She played the role of Sylvia St Croix in Ruthless! in 2014 for which she was also an Associate Producer ( Glugs Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress In A Musical, Dir. Lisa Freshwater).
Her cabaret Curtains about showbiz disasters was a finalist in 2014 Short & Sweet & Cabaret & earlier cabarets include Only Just Begun, about singers who died suddenly and young. She has fronted Big Bands Tres Mambo, Horns Plus and her own jazz quintet, The Mezzanines. She writes lyrics for Music Theatre, jazz & popular songs as well as songs tailored to corporate events.
Meredith has appeared in numerous TV dramas, commercials, corporate films and is a voiceover artist. She has hosted several radio shows & narrated audio books for Vision Australia for ten years.
Donna Lee - Sophia
Donna Lee comes from a long line of showbusinessdonna lee comes from a long line of showbusiness history in australia, being the 6th generation in her family to go into the business. as a child she travelled australia and performed with her talented parents (Frank Cleary was her father, a juggler and variety performer, and her mother Gloria Dawn, who was one of australia's foremost musical theatre performers).
Donna's theatre credits include Biddies/Australian tour 2012,Sail Away, Annie Get Your Gun, Fiddler on the Roof, Gypsy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Showboat, They're Playing our Song, Snoopy the musical, Dames at Sea, Summer Rain, Steppin Out, Crimes of the Heart, Forbidden Broadway, Nunsense 11,
Hello, Dolly!, Anything Goes and Oklahoma!for which she won a Green Room Award for her portrayal of Ado Annie.
Donna has since been nominated for Green Room Awards for her role as Madame Thenardier in the 1996 Les MiserablesAsian and South African tour and the 1998/99 10th Anniversary Australian tour, produced by Sir Cameron Mackintosh,and also for her role as the Dubbo Housewife in theAustralian tour of Menopause the musical. Another MO Award nomination came in 2009 for the role of Ms Darbus in High School Musical- Live on Stage.
Her television credits include, The Restless Years, The Young doctors, A Country Practice, Neighbours, The Mike Walsh Show, The Ray Martin Show, The Bert Newton Show.
She is an established cabaret performer and has been honoured with two MO Awards for her cabaret work.
Her first recording was with maestro Tommy Tychoand his 40 piece orchestra called You're Gonna Hear From Me. Others include Donna Lee's Lounge Session which is a tribute to Doris Day.
Nigel Turner-Carroll – Jeremiah and others
Nigel is an award winning actor and director. He is a graduate of the N.I.D.A acting degree and continues to work closely with mentor Annie Swann. He was nominated in 2012 Sydney Theatre Awards for The Greening of Grace(Best Supporting Actor) and Winner of Glug Award for Performer on the Way 2013 for the same performance. He was also a part of The Motherfu#$er With the Hat which was nominated (Best Independent Play) at the Sydney theatre Awards 2013. Other plays Nigel has appeared in include Skylight, Step, Gallipoli, The Birthday Boys, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Leader of the Pack, Saturday Night Fever, West Side Story.
With his recent success Directing and Co-Creating the new Australian musical: The Tap Pack, which has been nominated for two Green Room Awards and an Australian Dance Award for Best Musical in 2014, he has become one of Australia's most exciting new directors.
Also Directing and Co-Creating Olympic gold medallist Matthew Mitcham's cabaret, Twists and Turns which has already received accolades in it's first season at Perth Fringe World 2014. Winner-Best Cabaret and nominated Critics Choice Award, will see the show tour both nationally and internationally.
Nigel has also Directed and Produced Damn Good Divas Australian Tour which won Best Production Show, 2015 Mo Awards.
In pre-production, Nigel is teaming up with Composer Joe Accaria to direct and conceptualise the all female drum group DrummerQueens.
